The »ISI ESEMO« design concept represents a profound fusion of global heritage and cultural perspectives, inspired by Isoko ancestral worship. It envisions departed individuals becoming stars in the night sky, symbolizing an enduring connection with ancestors. Addressing concerns about its tomb-like appearance, the design serves as a metaphor for transformation and rebirth, challenging orthodoxy, times, providing spiritual enlightenment.

This spiritual framework shapes our sense of identity, morality, and community cohesion. It depicts the transition from colonial legacies to a decolonial institution and a setting that encourages open discourse, inclusion, and introspection. The multi-layered ritual aesthetic reflects a deep connection to diverse ancestral traditions, offering a Pluri-versal model for addressing colonial history. It emphasizes ex-colonies maintaining heritage connections (roots) while actively engaging in the global context (routes). This concept extends beyond Berlin, establishing a Pluri-versal model to address colonial history as a crucial part of transnational urban history. It promotes inclusive perspectives and encourages dialogue.
